Tick-box consultation doesn’t just waste time. It damages trust.

And once that’s gone, it’s hard to win back.

Real engagement shifts things and people can tell the difference.

Community-building enables people to show up differently, to speak more openly, and stay involved. Because they’ve had a hand in shaping what happens next.

Engagement & community building at always possible

Always Possible designs practical ways to bring people in and keep them involved. Turning participation into something that actually leads somewhere.

From targeted outreach and small-group deliberation to large-scale events and digital engagement.

Delivery and storytelling, working side by side.

Whether you’re building an employer network, curating a festival, shaping a local plan or just need to show that you’re listening better. We help you go further to bring people with you.

What we do and how we do it

A clear plan for who to involve, how to involve them, and how participation will inform decisions.

Identification of the people, groups and networks that matter, with a practical view of influence, trust and reach.

Focused approaches to reach the right communities, especially those less likely to respond to standard consultation.

Structured workshops and safe spaces that help people contribute confidently and move discussion forward.

Designed dialogue that helps groups work through complexity, disagreement and difficult change.

Inclusive events and engagement activity that generate insight, build visibility and create momentum.

Online tools and multimedia content that widen access, support discussion and strengthen engagement beyond the room.

Support to maintain momentum, deepen involvement and turn early participation into lasting contribution.

We are trusted by organisations shaping places, policy and the new economy

From national institutions to local partnerships, we work across systems not silos.

Sussex Bay

ENGAGEMENT // ENVIRONMENT // SUSSEX

Sussex Bay is a seascape restoration initiative spanning the Sussex coastline, with a strong commitment to involving the people and communities who live and work there in shaping its future.

Our engagement project focused on reaching groups not usually involved in environmental work, gathering public views on Sussex Bay’s vision, priorities and barriers to participation.

Always Possible, working with Wayforward, designed and facilitated the engagement programme through surveys, discussion groups and a reference group, helping build a broader base of community voice around Sussex Bay.

The work created a clearer participation model and a stronger shared evidence base to guide future engagement and long-term community involvement in seascape recovery.

Essex 2020

ENGAGEMENT // CULTURE // ESSEX

Essex 2020 was a county-wide Year of Science and Creativity designed to bring together communities, schools, businesses, cultural organisations and local authorities through a shared science, technology, engineering, arts and maths (STEAM) programme.

The initiative grew into a genuinely co-created campaign involving more than 491 events, 200 organisations and 12 local hubs, with grassroots participation built into the model from the start.

Always Possible was the lead design and programme management partner, shaping the engagement architecture through stakeholder mobilisation, place-based hubs, a community grants scheme, podcast, information portal and shared digital resources.

This helped build long-term local networks and partnership infrastructure that continued beyond the programme, with more than 14,000 direct participants and 479,000 social reach across the county.

Buckinghamshire New University

ENGAGEMENT // ENTERPRISE // UK

Growth, Learning, Investment, and Development in Entrepreneurship (GLIDE) – was a free, modular online course designed for ambitious creative professionals who wanted to grow a more purposeful network.

Across six weeks of keynotes, webinars and interactive workshops, the programme focused on helping participants build relationships, develop collaboration skills and make better use of contemporary tools and partnership opportunities.

Always Possible was commissioned by Buckinghamshire New University to lead the engagement and events delivery of the programme, helping convene speakers, manage participant communications and track registrations and feedback across the course.

The award-winning work helped create a structured peer-learning environment around network-building and collaboration, with participation data and feedback used to understand and strengthen community engagement.

Merton United

ENGAGEMENT // CULTURE // LONDON

Merton United was London Borough of Merton’s bid for Borough of Culture 2027, developed as a way to bring residents, schools, cultural organisations and community groups into a shared civic story.

The engagement process included postcard storytelling, youth focus groups, steering group workshops and wider sector sessions, helping shape a bid rooted in local identity, participation and connection across the borough.

Always Possible designed and facilitated the consultation process, helping Merton build collaboration across council teams, cultural partners and local communities.

The work strengthened cross-sector relationships, supported a more inclusive cultural narrative, and generated a pipeline of partnerships and projects that continued beyond the bid itself. £200k of funding by the Mayor of London was awarded as a result – to develop project ideas.

Basildon Creative Tech Fest

ENGAGEMENT // SKILLS // ESSEX

Basildon Creative Tech Fest was created to connect young people, families, schools, businesses and local partners around new opportunities in creative and emerging technology.

The festival combined workshops, talks and hands-on experiences to raise aspirations, improve digital confidence and open up clearer routes into future careers, particularly in an area facing economic disadvantage.

Always Possible co-designed and delivered the festival for two years with Basildon Council, building a Creative Tech Partnership that brought together businesses, colleges, schools and cultural organisations to shape the programme.

This created a stronger local network around skills and opportunity, engaging more than 1,000 attendees per year,  and 50+ organisations, and helping turn the festival into an ongoing platform for community participation and employer connection.

The Careers & Enterprise Company

ENGAGEMENT // SKILLS // UK

The Careers & Enterprise Company commissioned a national engagement campaign to encourage more SME leaders to get involved in the Enterprise Adviser Network.

The work focused on building stronger connections between employers, schools and regional careers hubs, with a campaign designed to make participation feel relevant, visible and practical at local level.

Always Possible created the Rewrite the Story brand, narrative and toolkit, producing digital and print assets that regional careers hubs could adapt for their own communities.

This gave the network a clearer, more engaging way to recruit employers and strengthen local relationships around careers education and enterprise support.

This was entirely delivered during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns, including facilitated workshops and a suite of video campaign assets.

East Sussex County Council

ENGAGEMENT // ENTERPRISE // SUSSEX

South East Business Boost (SEBB) Grants was designed to help East Sussex businesses access funding, advice and confidence to invest in growth.

Alongside the grants themselves, the programme used diagnostics, communications and outreach to engage a wide range of SMEs, including early-stage businesses and firms that might otherwise have found support schemes hard to access.

Always Possible combined grant administration with hands-on engagement, providing 273 business diagnostics, running recruitment and communications activity, and connecting businesses to wider networks of finance and support.

£761,649 was distributed to participating businesses.

This helped strengthen the regional support ecosystem and built confidence among local businesses, with 136 firms receiving grants and many using the process as a route into longer-term growth relationships.

South East Creatives

ENGAGEMENT // ENVIRONMENT // KENT

The South East Creative / Kent County Council Architecture & Environment Summit was a county-wide event designed to bring together people working across sustainable architecture, design and the built environment.

The online summit combined talks, panels and workshops to spark debate, share innovation and connect different parts of a sector that often works in silos.

Always Possible designed and facilitated the summit, curating the programme, shaping the event narrative and supporting speakers and participants throughout the day.

The work helped create a stronger shared conversation around sustainable design, place-making and climate priorities in Kent, with the summit acting as a convening point for practitioners, partners and local sector networks.
