[a start-up business case study]
‘Dad La Soul’ is a social enterprise that uses the arts, music, tech and play to tackle social isolation.
Founded in 2018, they are building an ever-growing international support network for dads, stepdads, male careers, granddads and their kids.
They work with national social housing providers, leisure centre groups, and brands to produce kick-ass dad-friendly playdates that feature everything from DJ/filmmaking/circus skills/special FX make-up/science workshops, soft play, dress up, sensory play and crafting.
These activities bring strangers together, challenges conventions, spark conversations and starts friendships in dads that perhaps can otherwise struggle in silence or isolation.
Dad La Soul was converting into a Community Interest Company, and needed support with strategic planning and positioning for both traded revenues and grant income.
The ambition was huge but the resources and capacity very limited, so the remit was to help structure and streamline tasks and goals, creating a project timeline that could inform future decision-making.
