University of Sussex Toolkit Training.
Part of the Enterprising Impact Conversations collection.
Tuesday 24th May. 12:30-13:30. Online. Free.
Learn about our toolkit which helps social science researchers create impact from their skills and talent.
The worlds of academic research and commercial business can sometimes feel far apart. In reality, the barrier is often language, whereas ideas and goals might be closer than you think.
Growing businesses, public services and charities need good evidence of the problems they are helping to solve, and the potential impact of the innovation they are trying to drive forward. Social science research could be vital in doing this.
But how does a researcher market their expertise? Where does someone start, to find the right contacts and networks?
The University of Sussex has collaborated with always possible to create an introductory toolkit for social science researchers who want their skills and talents to have an impact and who can achieve this sustainably through commercial routes.
always possible CEO, Richard Freeman, will be running a special session on how to use the toolkit, and what to look for in the different sections on building influence, offering consultancy, knowing what makes your offer unique and much more.
Rather than focusing on simply ‘selling’, Richard will consider how researchers can articulate the value they are adding to an organisation through the practical application of knowledge, and things to consider when approaching potential clients.
The session will be informal, with time for questions and all delegates will have access to a copy of the toolkit to use immediately afterwards.
