Richard Freeman’s special guest this week is James Turnbull
For nearly 20 years, James has been a leading arts executive and producer, working with story-tellers, performers and directors at every level to create meaningful experiences for audiences around the UK.
His award-winning career has always seen him pushing boundaries on what is possible in theatre, whether touring, creating new festival spaces or co-designing events with young people.
In recent years, James’ focus has been on TOMTech a vehicle through which to test how emerging technologies like virtual and augmented reality can enhance live performance.
We talk about this and the reasons why theatre has failed to reach many parts of society, despite its power to solve problems and connect ideas. Perhaps the technology of immersion and a more prolonged personal experience can be the support that is needed to get more people attending.
