NEWS: Innovative new music centre for Worthing
AudioActive open ground-breaking high street multi-use hub
Multi-award winning music charity, AudioActive, have cemented their place in history. The launch of their new performance space, rehearsal rooms, coffee shop, recording studio in an old Dorothy Perkins store in Worthing High Street embodies radical new thinking about the future of town centres.
With big plans for a Centre of Urban Music Excellence and a record store (run by young people), subsided office space and inclusive mentoring for all young people, AudioActive are re-writing the rules on how music can be a catalyst for change.
Launch parties saw guests from the world of education, local government, music, business and across the arts explore the new spaces with drinks and music – before the centre formally opened to the public, 7 days a week, on April 9th 2022.
always possible undertook a piece of consultative research in 2019, testing the market and appetite for a space like this, talking to over 100 venues, promotors, musicians and music students in Worthing. This evidence helped AudioActive to unlock investment from Arts Council England and Worthing Borough Council, with the keys to the former clothes shop handed over in early 2022.
