New report shows incredible impact of BIPC network
The British Library Business & IP Centre National Network generated a payback of £6.63 for every £1 of public money spent – shown in a new, independent report of the service.
Other highlights are that over a three-year period the Network supported 62,876 people and helped to create:
- 18,175 new businesses
- 6,124 additional jobs
- £168m of gross value added (GVA)
And 96% of the existing businesses polled were still trading.
Libraries mean business – and are engines of economic recovery and growth. Read the highlights and hear the stories from just some of the businesses the #BIPC Network has supported with funding from Department for Culture, Media and Sport in the report Democratising Entrepreneurship 2.0.
always possible has supported two thriving local Business & IP Centres in the early stages of their development. In Brighton we teamed up with Brighton Chamber to co-design and deliver a programme of business support. The flexible programme included facilitated networking events, 1:1 mentoring support and a series of four workshops – all held online.
The programme proved so popular that we ran the full set of workshops twice!
The success of the Reset. Restart. programme and resulting demand highlighted the need for a further programme of support, so the following year always possible and Brighton Chamber were once again commissioned to design and deliver a new programme, with an aim to reach and engage more entrepreneurs that were under-represented within traditional business support models.

Our work with the Brighton & Hove BIPC caught the attention of Oxford library, who were keen to draw on our knowledge and learning to support with the strategy and planning of their own BIPC launch.
