Merton Council launches bid for 2027 London Borough of Culture

Launched in 2017, the Mayor of London’s Borough of Culture award aims to put culture at the heart of local communities, illustrating the unique identity and diversity of the capital’s boroughs.

This week Merton Council has officially launched its bid for 2027, which will further promote the creativity, richness and diversity that runs throughout its community. This is also alongside the borough’s launch as the first London Borough of Sport, building on its international pedigree for tennis and football.

The team at always possible has been supporting with the planning and development of the borough’s culture story and ambition, ensuring that organisations and communities across Mitcham, Wimbledon, Morden, Colliers Wood, Raynes Park and Pollards Hill input into a compelling case for celebration, identity and economic renewal.

The launch of the bidding process kicks off a series of events this Autumn, bringing together residents and some of the borough’s brightest and most inspirational groups, to get creative and build excitement for a new cultural chapter.
