Rifa Thorpe-Tracey



Rifa Thorpe-Tracey is an award-winning coach and consultant in the digital and creative industries. Rifa is the founder of Refigure, a company dedicated to helping women in tech gain confidence, clarity and financial success. She works with a wide array of clients including artists, digital workers, entrepreneurs, universities, producers and creative leaders, providing one-on-one coaching sessions and group programmes tailored to their specific needs.

Rifa has a rich and diverse professional background that includes founding and running SheSays Brighton, a networking event for women in digital and creative industries that boasts over 2000 members. She also serves as the Festival Director for the Spring Forward Festival, a month-long celebration of women's roles in digital culture held each March in parallel with Women's History Month. Her leadership roles extend to hosting and organising The Story 2018 and working with the Brighton Digital Festival board to propel their development.


In her role as Chief Community Officer at Wired Sussex and The FuseBox, Rifa was instrumental in managing operations, overseeing marketing initiatives, and building a diverse and inclusive company culture.

As a Senior Producer at Brilliant Noise, Rifa led innovative marketing and business strategies for high-profile clients like Nokia, Porsche, and Picturehouse Cinemas. She also played a pivotal role in the £300k rebranding project for Heathrow Airport. Her experience extends to her role as Head of Production at Ribot, where she oversaw the development of apps and digital solutions for clients including Tesco and Channel 4.

Rifa Thorpe-Tracey is skilled in operations management, strategic planning, revenue generation, project management, risk assessment and mitigation, reporting and documentation, relationship building, performance evaluation and team leadership and training. Her professional interests focus on diversity in the arts, entrepreneurship, gender equity and emerging technology.

Qualifications, accolades and honours

Rifa holds a BA in Marketing from the University of the Arts London. Additionally, she has earned several certifications, including Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace (OU, 2022); Mental Health First Aid (NCFE Level 2, 2021); Life Coaching and Mindfulness (Diploma, 2019); Equality and Diversity (NCFE Level 2, 2018); Scrum Master Certification (2012); Introduction to Agile Methods (2009); Project Management for New Media (1999); Microsoft Project and Methodology (1998); and Business & Finance (HND, Distinction, 1995).

Rifa's work and dedication have earned her multiple honours and awards. She was the winner of the Community Hero Award at the Dynamic Business Awards 2022, a Mentor/Coach of the Year finalist, and Best Networker of the Year runner-up at the Business Women Excellence Awards 2019. She was also listed among Etc magazine’s Top 20 Inspirational Women in 2020 and Sussex Life magazine’s Top 50 inspiring women in 2017. Additionally, she was nominated for High Achiever of the Year in the Venus Awards in 2013 and 2014.

Her commitment to community engagement is evident through her roles as a founding member of Women of Colour Brighton. Rifa has also been a trustee for Lighthouse Arts and The Marlborough Theatre, and a board director for Platform B Radio. Her contributions to the digital landscape in Brighton & Hove have significantly championed diversity and inclusivity in the industry.
