Will Steadman



Will Steadman has built a leading career in the non-profit sector over the past 20 years, advocating for organisations dedicated to making positive changes for people, society and the planet.  Will joined the always possible associate team in 2017, with whom he has undertaken strategic consultancy work, specialising in programme evaluations, business strategy and theories of change. His clients have included the Institute of Physics, Fareshare UK and AudioActive amongst others. Will’s contributions also include running workshops, conducting focus groups and presenting complex ideas to CEOs and Boards of Trustees.

Will is also a Funding Manager at the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, one of the UK's largest independent charitable grant-makers, where he specialises in environmental and food systems. His role involves building and maintaining partnerships with a diverse range of organisations, from small voluntary groups to global environmental NGOs.


Will's recent specialism has been to stimulate changes necessary for ethical food production that benefits nature, local economies and people. Will’s work supports measures that enable farmers to adopt sustainable practices, underpinned by clear food and farming policies - improving biodiversity at scale, restoring soil health and enhancing farm incomes. By funding and collaborating with passionate partners, many of whom are led by or work directly with farmers across the UK, Will has significantly contributed to advancing sustainable agriculture.

Will’s consultancy expertise extends to his work as a Grants Assessor and Funding Consultant for a wide range of funds and  agencies, including the Mayor of London, Office for Civil Society, National Emergencies Trust Covid-19 response, Department for Culture, Media and Sport, The Home Office (via London Community Foundation), the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, and People’s Health Trust. He was also a consultant to Youth Music from 2019 to 2023.

Skills and interests

Will’s professional interests are diverse and focused on areas such as diversity in the arts, sustainable and ethical food and green technology. His skills include strategic partnerships, systems thinking, relationship building, environmental policy and sustainable agriculture. Will thrives on advancing the development of the organisations he supports through strategic advice, funding, convening support, or commissioning, leveraging his experience, judgment and initiative to provide tailored support.

Qualifications, accolades and honours

Will holds a BA (Hons) in Music from Middlesex University. His background in music has provided to be a unique and helpful foundation for his work in the non-profit sector, particularly in areas related to arts and culture.

He has been a board member of the live music access charity Attitude is Everything, serving as a trustee from 2016 to 2022, championing music and disability projects.
